The International English Olympiad (IEO) is an exam to search for young linguistics,youngsters who have become maestros in the English language.
Olympiad exams help the children to gain confidence for competing with the best around them inthe country and internationally and contribute to personality development. Also, recognition ofmerit at an early age is bound to infuse a certain sense of achievement that encourages them todo even better as they advance in age.
These Olympiad exams are designed in such a way that the students are exposed to a variety ofcomplex problems which require a high level of analytical ability and proficiency in variousconcepts, thereby invoking ingenuity in dealing with them. Since admissions to variousprofessional institutions like IITs and Medical colleges are given on the basis of performance incompetitive exams, such Olympiads also pave the way for a true understanding of the conceptsthat is so essential for doing well in these highly competitive exams.
All SOF exams will be conducted online this year. Students will appear for the chosen examsfrom their homes. All exams will be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays so that no student willmiss out online school classes and younger children have parent's support to log in for exams.

The following awards will be provided to the winners of Olympiads being held during theacademic year 2020-21:
For NSO, IEO & IMO - International & Zonal toppers (in 26 zones) of classes three totwelve, awards will be provided to 2 nd level winners.
For IGKO and class 1 & 2 winners of IEO, NSO & IMO - International & Zonaltopper awards will be provided to 1 st level winners as these are single level exams.
Second level Exams - may be conducted based on the prevalent conditions due to Coronavirus at that time leading to feasibility of conducting 2 nd level exams in all states. In case2 nd level exams are not conducted, results of 1 st level exams will be treated as finalresults.
Each winner will be entitled to one award for an exam. The winners will be entitled to thehigher-level award accruing only. For e.g., the international top 3 rank holders will beentitled to awards based on their International ranks. Awards accruing to them for Zonalranks will be given to the next rank holder. Similarly, school award accruing to a Zonalaward winner will be given to the next rank holder.

Olympiad exams are a great help in this preparation. Olympiad exams are school level competitive exams which provide a platform to students to judge their skills on bigger forums and are tougher as compared to regular school exams. First of all, set your goal and target the desired exam from the beginning. Now, the first step in Olympiad exam preparation is to understand the syllabus, pattern and level of difficulty. For this, go through the syllabus and previous year’s question paper.
It is necessary to have a study plan for Olympiad preparation to maintain discipline and time management. Plan and freeze daily study hours. Daily scheduling and subject wise scheduling is very important for a systematic preparation. Keep yourself away from social media, mobile phone, Whatsapp and any activity which destruct your concentration.
Start from NCERT books as they lay the foundation of advance knowledge. Then students can refer books by MTG etc. to understand level of Olympiad questions. NCERT or similar books of one higher grade can be referred to understand advanced concepts.
Prepare notes with the important information and formulae as these notes can be used for revision. This cuts down on the revision time as the notes contain important information from all subjects in a single place.
Highlight the points of high importance in book and mark those questions in which you face difficulty. During the time of revision, you have to focus specially on these points and questions.
Before going to sleep every day, make a plan of activities and topic of studies for next day. It will help you to reduce unproductive time and improve your performance. In the morning, try to revise topic of last day which will improve your retention capability.
Evaluate yourself by attempting as many MCQ type questions as possible for understanding of a topic after studying it. This will help you in knowing weak areas of your preparation. Then go through other books or study material for clarification of the same. Don't allow to accumulate the doubts which may result in mental stress.
Make a revision plan parallel to regular studies. Revise each topic at a suitable interval of time using short notes or flash cards otherwise there is a chance of forgetting it.
