The International English Olympiad (IEO) is an exam to search for young linguistics,youngsters who have become maestros in the English language.

1. Gold Medal of Excellence to Class Toppers: Medals will be awarded on following criteria:

• School "Gold Medal of Excellence" will be awarded as under:
• For 5 to 9 registrations/class - Gold Medal of Excellence to top rank holder in class
• For 10 to 25 registrations/class - Gold Medal of Excellence to top 3 rank holders
• For registrations exceeding 25/class - Gold Medal of Excellence to top 10% rank holders in class

SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIPS:

Girl Child Scholarship Scheme (GCSS): - 300 Nos.

• Rs.5000/- Each scholarship to 300 girls in India who are academically inclined but come from economically modest families.
• Scholarship for Excellence in English (SEE): - 120 Nos.
• Rs.5000/- Each scholarship to 120 in India students exhibiting excellence in English Language.
• SOF - Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES): - 208 Nos.
• Trophy to 208 students from class 3 to 10. Student scoring highest number of marks in 4 Olympiad exams during the year wins the AES. Winners to be selected for all 26 zones / states.
• In case of a tie between two or more students, winners are decided on the following priority:

The SOF International English Olympiad is conducted at two levels:


Level 1: The first level of the test is organized in the respective schools of the participants during school hours.
(i) The level 1 competition is a test of 60 minutes duration comprising 35 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 1 to class 4 and 50 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 5 to class 12.
(ii) The question paper consists of four sections:
Section-1: Word & Structure Knowledge
Section-2: Reading
Section-3: Spoken & Written Expression
Section-4: Achievers Section
Level 2: The level 2 is conducted for students of class 3 to class 12. The qualifiers to second round would include the following:


• At International Level: Top 5% of candidates, class wise, who appear in the 1st level exam internationally.
• At Zone/State Level: Top 25 rank holders from each Zone and each class.
• At School Level: Class topper where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam & scores at least 50% qualifying marks.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR OLYMPIAD EXAMINATIONS

Hard work is the key of success. To achieve target one must always be ready to work for it. Nowadays, competition after school getting tougher and thus it becomes necessary for the school students to be prepared emotionally and mentally to tackle the challenges coming their way. Olympiad exams are a great help in this preparation. Olympiad exams are school level competitive exams which provide a platform to students to judge their skills on bigger forums and are tougher as compared to regular school exams. Olympiads help students in improving their understanding of concepts and help in achieving overall academic excellence. Olympiads also help students to develop reasoning and logical thinking at an early stage. Some of the tips to prepare for GATE exam are as follows:

How to prepare for IEO

The International English Olympiad (IEO) is conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) in collaboration with the British Council. The test is designed to focus on the usage of English language. It is conducted for students of classes 1 to 12 in India. First level is conducted at the school level. Only top 5% of candidates, class wise, who appear in 1^st level exam, are qualified for second level.
